FAQ

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is the act of raising funds online from a large number of people for a specific project, cause, or campaign.

How does it work at UW-Platteville?

UW-Platteville has partnered with a company called Community Funded to create pioneering.uwplatt.edu, which is a crowdfunding platform.  Those who are interested in fundraising may submit an application to use the crowdfunding platform and once approved, they can build their campaign page.

Who can start a campaign on pioneering.uwplatt.edu?

Any student, faculty or staff member may submit an application to start a campaign.  However, there must be a valid, active Foundation account in order for the campaign to proceed.

Can I make a gift by phone?

Yes! From 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. CST, call 800-897-2586 to make your gift over the phone. When you call, please have your credit card information available and the name of the fund you want to support. We will also need your contact information.

Can I mail in a gift?

Yes!  Please make your check payable to UW-Platteville Foundation and reference the specific fund you want to support.  Mail to: UW-Platteville Foundation, 1 University Plaza, Platteville, WI 53818-3099.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

All gifts to the UW-Platteville Foundation are tax deductible as allowed by the law.

Can I give to more than one campaign?
Absolutely. You can give to as many different campaigns or funds as you would like.

What other ways can I get involved?

Help us spread the word! TAG your friends and family to let them know that you’ve made a gift and encourage them to give, too. Post on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram with the hashtag #Pioneersdayofgiving. For content ideas, visit our social ambassador toolkit.
